History of Master/Mistress

One main origin point for Master/Mistress style practices is within the 9th century B.C., when ritualistic occurrences which included whips and paddles were becoming more prevalent in certain areas of ancient Sparta. These happenings were basically a component of an ancient pre-olympic religion, known as the Cult of Orthia. Another interesting exemplification of Master/Mistress’s origins and development over time is the Indian work known as the Kama Sutra. This piece of writing, whose composition began at some point around 400 B.C., serves as a profoundly important work in Indian culture and leads to today’s culture.
